AVON True Colour eyeshadow quad palette - Stone Taupes

I love neutral eye shadows; in fact they are my favorite shades for everyday looks as they are very wearable and easy to manage. They are perfect for creating different types of looks, from school and office, to simple make-up looks on the go. Over the years, I’ve collected all kinds of different neutral/nude palettes, from high-end to drugstore brands, so when Avon Bosnia & Herzegovina kindly sent me their new reformulated True Colour Eyeshadow quad in Stone Taupes to test it, I was more than pleased to welcome it in my nice little stash, as it was probably one of my favorite shades in their catalog.

Avon's True Colour Eyeshadows quads are available in twelve color combinations and they promise a “rich, saturated color that glides on exactly as it looks in the palette”. As you can tell by its name, Stone Taupes palette is basically a combination of four taupe shades with a multitude of undertones and finishes.

All the shades are numbered from one to four, and the back of the cardboard case gives you handy instructions of how to apply each shade. The quad itself is made of hard sleek black plastic that looks really pretty and stylish, but it is a  fingerprints and dust collector. Actually, I think Avon copied Chanel eyeshadow quad cases with this one, as they look and feel quite similar.

It comes with a nice big mirror inside which I really like as it is big enough to reflect almost your entire face. The quad also comes with a dual end applicator.

There are 2 lighter and 2 darker colors in this quad. Starting from the left top there is a soft vanilla-ish color, perfect for highlighting inner corners and brown bone area, a pretty pinkish-taupe with shimmery color which reminds me of Urban Decay’s Sin eyeshadow (although this one is slightly darker), a mid grey-taupe color and a dark brownish-grey color for defining the look.

All the eye shadows have a satin finish; they are creamy and are very finely milled, but not too powdery. They are very smooth to apply and two layers will give you a nice color.

That being said, they are not the most pigmented eye shadows in the world, but they have a decent color payoff, especially when used with an eye shadow base.

Here are the swatches I did without the flash, using Eseence I <3 stage base.

When it comes to longevity, the colors in this quad did quite well. With an eye shadow base, they lasted all day. I didn’t experience any fading and they stayed defined throughout the day.

Overall, if you like neutrals, this is a good basic neutral palette to have. My only complain is that there is no huge difference between the shades, but as I said, if you’re into neutrals and taupes and you're looking for an everyday affordable palette, this should definitely work out for you.

Available from Avon representatives and online.
