Catrice Glamour Doll Volume Mascara Review

Perfect mascara is probably one of the most difficult make-up products to find. Women search highs and lows to find one. We need one that leave our lashes looking full and voluminous, the one that makes them black and beautiful, perfectly shaped and separated, and all of that at the same time! That’s certainly a lot of things to desire from one little tube, isn’t it?  There are millions of mascaras on the market available everyday and it's always the same - new mascaras, new opportunities...
The last one that made me very curious was Glamour Doll Volume Mascara, one of the three new mascaras coming from Catrice’s new fall/winter 2012 collection. This mascara struck me immediately because it reminded me a lot of Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes mascara which I was very pleased with. Of course, the prices of these two are miles apart, saying that Catrice is way too budget friendly, so I bought it.

What Catrice says about Glamour Doll Volume Mascara?

"Doll Eyes are dominating the international catwalks– this calls for our specially developed elastomer brush. Why? Simple: it captures a lot of the creamy mascara texture, spreads it well and covers each individual lash without weighing it down. The result: extra volume, length and density. That’s how to get huge doll eyes! Opthalmologically tested."

First off, I will start by telling the things I like. The packaging of this mascara looks quite temping. It’s made of black shiny plastic with silver lettering. It looks classy and elegant, you wouldn’t say it costs only 4 euros. As I said, it does remind me of Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes because of it’s sleek and curvy appearance. The brush is made of silicone/rubber hairs and it’s quite elastic. Personally, I find this very helpful because you can adjust the brush to your eye shape. The hairs are somewhat wider at the root of the brush and smaller on the tip, so it can “caught” even the smallest lash.

Now, when first applied, you can definitely tell how creamy and wet the texture is. A lot of product sticks at the end of the brush, so you have to be careful when applying it. This mascara gives certain volume and length, and the result on my naturally long eyelashes is quite satisfying, but I guess this is individual.

So far, so good? NOT!

After wearing this mascara for 2-3 hours you will start to notice little black flakes all over your face. Seriously, this thing crumbles like crazy!!! This happened to me not once, but every single time I wore this mascara. Also, it doesn’t separate the lashes at all. No matter how many layers you put on, it sticks them together so you end up with a tacky looking spider legs lashes. Doll lashes, anyone? I don’t think so!

Unfortunately, this mascara will probably end up in the garbage. Yes, the result it gives is quite nice at first, it will give you the length and the volume, but who wants to see rest of the make-up  ruined by this thing? Catrice Glamour Doll Volume mascara is a complete waste of money, nothing "glamorous" about it, so please do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy it.
